Most of the lakes, we are diving, are in the neighbourhood of Arnhem. To name a few lakes: Ressen, Groene Heuvels and Stroombroek. Also other paces are on our list. Most of these waters are places were companies used to dig up sand, a normal procedure in the Netherlands. In these waters we can find a lot of different fishes. Think about: pike (-perch), bass, eel, tench and, when you're lucky, a carp. Also there are crab, crawfish and other small animals. The visibility in the water is not so good as in tropic waters, but even in the Netherlands sometime we can see more than 10 meters. Average the sigh in the Dutch waters is between 3 and 5 meters.
Diving in the waters in the province of Zeeland is a very nice option. Under the Zeeland Bridge we go stream diving in the sea or we go diving in a lake with brackish water, called the lake of Grevelinge. Of course the flora and fauna in these waters is completely different from the lakes more inside the country. Sepia, lobster, crab, turbot, plaice, shrimp, flotsam, jellyfish and several slugs are some of the long list of different kinds you can meet when you are diving in the province of Zeeland.
We organize these activities with our club. Another diving activity we organize is diving by night. Sometimes in the winter, when there is ice on the lakes, we go ice diving.
We organize and dive by de safety rules of the NOB. For example, in case of ice diving we use a rope and an extra diver is standing by for emergency rescue.
